Idividuals wishing to attend must provide the following:

VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE
SOCIAL SECURITY CARD
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA, TRANSCRIPT OR GED
AT LEAST 17 YEARS OF AGE
MUST NOT BE ENROLLED IN ANOTHER INSTITUTION

Enrollment documentation must be completed and received by the last day of each month to be considered for the next class. Classes begin on the first Monday on the Month. (unless it is an observed holiday).

CLASS A BARBER CURRICULUM

PROGRAM CONSISTS OF 4 PARTS

FRESHMAN

ORIENTATION TO CLASS A BARBERING

In the Orientation to Class A Barbering, students will learn the most efficient way to study for exams as well as how to retain knowledge about material covered. They will also be introduced to the origins of the profession of Barbering, and how the trade has evoleved throughout the years. This portion of the curriculum concludes with a comprehensive look at how to conduct yourself as a professional.

SCIENCE OF BARBERING

In the Science of Barbering, students will learn about microbes and how to combat the spread of communicable diseases through infection control methods. Basic knowledge of the safe handling of tools and implements, Anatomy and Phisiology pertaining to the services administered by Barbers and a brief overview of chemistry and how it effects the hair and scalp.

SOPHMORE

SCIENCE OF BARBERING (cont.)

The sophmore portion of the curriculum takes students even deeper into the Science of Barbering with the intoduction of Electricity and Light Therapy. Student will also learn to identify various disorders of the face and scalp.

PROFESSIONAL BARBERING

This stage takes students into the professional realm of Barbering. Students will learn to treat disorders of the face and scalp, perfom facial manipulations and shaving techniques. This portion concludes with a in depth study of men’s haircutting and styling as well as men’s hair replacement.

SOPHMORE

JUNIOR

ADVANCED CLASS A BARBERING SERVICES

In the Advanced Class A Barbering section students are given a general understanding of women’s haircutting and styling, chemical texture services, haircoloring and lightning and management of nail technicians for male manicuring services in the barbershop.

BUSINESS OF BARBERING

The final section of the curriculum prepares students for taking state board examinations, identifying job opportunities, and/or self employment in the form of barbershop ownership and management.

The remainder of course content focuses on practical floor activities, where students learn to hone their skills and prepare for the state board practical exam.
